This is a blend of 75% Wairau fruit from Jones' family vineyard on O'Dwyers Road with 25% from their ‘Starborough Terrace' Awatere vineyard near Seddon. The wine was cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 6.0 g/L rs, with 10% undergoing barrel-fermentation in old French oak. Very pale straw colour with a pale rim, this has a full, voluminous bouquet of ripe, spiced pears and exotic florals, lifted by some fermentation esters. Off-dry to taste, this is open and very accessible on palate with mouthfilling flavours of spiced pears, honey and floral elements. The mouthfeel is soft and there is a sweetness and succulence to the fruit. The acidity is soft, contributing to an attractively balanced and harmonious expression, but there is plenty of freshness and poise. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto, or with Asian and Mediterranean cuisine over the next 2-4 years.  1150 cases made.  18.5-/20 Aug 2011 RRP $21.95
