Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is soft, delicate and poised with pristine gooseberry and white floral aromas with detailed cut grass and nettle detail and thirst-quenching minerally nuances. This is aromatically pure and refined in expression. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, subtly concentrated flavours of white stonefruits, gooseberries, herbs and limes are immediately accessible and show with a mouthwatering succulence. The acidity is fine and lacy, providing cut and liveliness, poise with tension. Passionfruit notes emerge and the wine follows a concentrated, firm line, leading to a tightly bound, elegant, dry finish with minerally nuances. This is a refined and elegant Sauvignon Blanc with pure fruit and a beautifully poised, refeshing mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood and fine Asian fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit in equal portions from the ‘O’Dwyers Farm’ Rapaura and ‘Long Lane’ Awatere vineyards, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., the wine aged on lees. 18.5/20 Oct 2014 RRP $22.00
