Starborough ‘Family Estate’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is full and expansive with softly rich and ripe passionfruit aromas interwoven with tropical fruits and minerals, quite seamless in presentation. Dry to taste, very lively, bright and racy flavours of mineral-infused passionfruit and a very fine textural thread form a deep core to the palate. The acidity is racy and brisk, endowing the mouthfeel with plenty of tension and flow, and balancing the fine textures to provide a dry, fine line. Though tightly bound and clearly with plenty to unfold, there is considerable juicy sweetness to the fruit which carries through to a very long zesty finish with detail and nuances. This is a racy, concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit and minerally flavours that will show more over the next 3 years. Serve with most seafood, poultry and vegetable dishes as well as sheep cheeses. Fruit 50% from the ‘Long Lane' vineyard, Dashwood in the Awatere Valley and 50% from the ‘O'Dwyers Farm' site in the Wairau Valley, stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. 18.5/20 Oct 2012 RRP $21.95 Fruit 50% from the ‘Long Lane' vineyard, Dashwood in the Awatere Valley and 50% from the ‘O'Dwyers Farm' site in the Wairauv Valley, stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. Very pale straw colour with green hues, pale on rim. This has a full nose with a concentrated and intense core of pungent passionfruity aromas along with gooseberry and minerally notes in support. The aromatics are already voluminous, and promise to show more. Dry to taste, the palate features racy acidity offering smooth and slippery textures and enable the passionfruit and gooseberry fruit flavours to flow seamlessly through the palate line. Though still tightly bound with a concentrated core, attractive detail and nuance is apparent. The wine has a moderately sustained, mouthwatering, crisp and zingy finish. This racy and mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc shows pungent and minerally fruit with intensity and depth. Serve with seafood, poultry and creamy cheeses over the next 3+ years. 18.0+/20 Jul 2012 RRP $21.95
