Brilliant, even, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is tightly bound and elegantly expressed with aromas of gooseberries entwined with passionfruit, lifted with tropical fruit and floral esters, unveiling saline and mineral nuances. Dry to taste and slender in proportion, subtly juicy and succulent flavours of passionfruit, gooseberries and minerals feature on the front palate. The mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh acidity and the wine follows a very fine-textured line leading to a dry, moderately sustained finish of passionfruit and chalky minerals. This is a tight and slender Sauvignon Blanc with subtly luscious passionfruit and mineral flavours and a fresh, lively and fine mouthfeel. Match with seafood and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Awatere Valley fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.1 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 17.5-/20 Feb 2015 RRP $22.95
