Stanley Estates ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Dec-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, paler on the rim. The nose is fresh and harmoniously presented with finely concentrated aromas of exotic florals, white and yellow stonefruits and nuances of tropical fruits, unfolding subtle notes of rose-petals and lifted fermentation esters. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is youthful and refreshing with fragrant and gently succulent flavours of white stonefruits, exotic florals and tropical fruits, along with hints of honeysuckle and rose-petals. This is elegantly concentrated and the mouthfeel is lively with lacy acidity. The wine follows a fine-textured, subtle phenolic line leading to a lingering aromatic, exotic finish. This is a gently rich dryish Pinot Gris with exotic, aromatic fruit and a refreshing palate. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Clones M2 and ENTAV 457, from vines planted in 2009, indigenous yeast fermented in tank with 16% in seasoned oak to 13.8% alc. and 2.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees with no batonnage in barrel. 18.0+/20 Dec 2016 RRP $22.95
