Stanley Estates ’Single Vineyard’ Awatere Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Mar-2014
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and tightly bound with gentle aromas of pungent passionfruit, nettles, grass and chalky minerals, unfolding savoury secondary nuances. This is classical Awatere Valley expression. Dry to taste, elegant and gently luscious flavours of passionfruit, minerals and a little savoury herbal note form a rounded mouthfeel that suggests unctuousness. The acidity is bright and enlivening, adding to the juiciness on palate, and the phenolics show a very sensitive hand. The flavours lead to a fresh and racy finish with lingering chalky and minerally elements. Tight and classically Awatere in expression,, this Sauvignon Blanc has a lush, juicy and smooth mouthfeel. Serve with salads and vegetables, and with Mediterranean fare over the next 2+ years. A single vineyard wine, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 2.0 g/L RS. 18.0+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $22.95
