Stanley Estates ’Single Vineyard’ Awatere Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-Mar-2014
A single vineyard wine, clones 667, 777 and 115, fermented with a portion of whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 22% new oak. Light, even, ruby-red colour with some garnet hues, pale edged. The bouquet is very fresh with intense and bright aromas of dark red berry fruit, lifted florals and fresh herbal nuances. Some raspberry liqueur and soft oak spice notes unfold in the glass, adding to the depth. Medium-bodied and elegantly presented, this has a tight and concentrated core of cherry and raspberry fruit flavours, along with a little resinous oak. The mouthfeel is lively and vibrant with fresh acidity and energy, and fine tannin extraction provides good backbone and firm linearity. The flavours are carried to a fresh, bright and spicy finish with good acid length. This is an elegant and lively Pinot Noir with vibrant raspberry fruit flavours and fine tannin line. Serve with tuna and salmon, pork and Asian cuisine over the next 4-5 years. 17.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $26.95
