Stanley Estates ’Single Vineyard’ Awatere Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Mar-2014
Brilliant, pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. This has a tight and concentrated bouquet with white stonefruit and lifted floral detail, supported by pear and honeysuckle elements and soft flinty and chalky mineral notes forming a dense amalgam. Dry to taste, light and restrained flavours of white stonefruits, pears and honeysuckle form a soft-textured palate. The mouthfeel is smooth with very fine phenolics resulting in a dry linearity. There is good mouthfeel and presence, and this carries through to a light, crisp finish. This is a tight, restrained Pinot Gris with a soft, dry mouthfeel and subtle, smooth flowing palate. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 4 years. A single vineyard wine, fermented in stainless-steel with 20% in seasoned barriques by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., and 4.5 g/L RS, the oak portion aged 5 months in barrel with batonnage. 17.5/20 Mar 2014 RRP $22.95
