Staete Landt Marlborough Viognier 2012

Viognier from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Jan-2014
Full, even straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, lighter on rim. This is elegantly proportioned and refined on the nose, with fragrant aromas of citrus zest and apricots, yellow florals, underlined by delicate mineral and nutty notes. Medium-full bodied, gently rich and rounded, luscious flavours exotic florals, citrus and tropical fruits unfold nutty, oxidative complexities on the palate. The mouthfeel flows with a soft, creaminess and the flavours are carried to a well-concentrated and lingering finish balanced by good acidity and fine, dry textures. This is an elegant, rounded Viognier with exotic tropical fruit and nutty, savoury detail. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine and white meat dishes over the next 4 years. Fruit from the heart of the ‘Staete Landt’ estate, hand-picked, WBP, and fermented in seasoned oak to 14.0% alc. and 4.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees. 18.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $39.00
