Staete Landt ‘Josephine’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Oct-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, paler on the rim. The bouquet is elegantly concentrated layers of vibrantly ripe citrus and white stonefruits melded with creamy barrel-ferment elements forming a tight core, revealing an amalgam of nuts, subtle oxidative complexities and minerals. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fine in presentation with well-concentrated and intense layers unfolding vibrant and fresh, ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits, creamy barrel-ferment notes, and nutty elements. The mouthfeel is poised with fresh acidity and the wine flows along a very fine-textured line. This is tight and taut at the core, and the palate carries to a long and sustained finish with complex citrus, nutty and oaky nuances. This is an elegant and tightly concentrated Chardonnay with complex layers of citrus fruit, creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak on a fresh, poised palate. Match with grilled and roasted seafood and poultry dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 95 and 15 from 18 y.o. vines, WBP and 50% indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc. the wine aged approx. 17 months in 10% new French oak puncheons with batonnage and 100% MLF. 18.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $29.00
