Staete Landt ‘Josephine’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Jan-2014
Clone 95 and 15 fruit from 6 blocks, hand-picked, WBP and 50% indigenous yeast fermented in 10% new French oak puncheons to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in barrel with batonnage and MLF. Bright, light golden hued straw-yellow colour with some depth. The nose is firm and densely concentrated with aromas of white stonefruits complexed by nutty, oxidative elements intermingling with mineral nuances. Medium-full bodied, tight and concentrated flavours of stonefruits and nuts feature on the palate with a subtle sweetness and richness. Complex layers with oxidative and toasty flavours add interest and meld with savoury secondary detail. The palate has excellent linearity, depth and power, with very fine, grainy textures and lacy acidity providing energy to the mouthfeel. The flavours lead to a very long, concentrated, dry finish. This is a concentrated, nutty, oxidative Chardonnay with complexity in the white burgundy mould. Serve with seafood and white meats over the next 4-5 years. 18.5-/20 Jan 2014 RRP $29.00
