Clone 95 and 15 fruit hand-picked and WBP, 50% indigenous yeast fermented fully in oak, of which 10% was new to 14.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L rs. The wine underwent batonnage and MLF for 8 months and given a total of 18 months in barrel. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues. The bouquet is finely concentrated and intensely packed with harmoniously interwoven aromas of bright citrus fruits, savoury nutty notes and buttered toast. Medium-full bodied, the flavours are initially restrained, with elegantly expressed ripe citrus fruits, butterscotch MLF and nutty oak forming a complex melange. The mouthfeel is very refined, with smooth creamy textures balanced by excellent acid cut. The flavours and presence build in intensity with the palate showing real linear drive and some underlying alcohol power. The palate carries through to a very long, lingering finish with a amalgam of savoury citrus, nutty, toast flavours. This is a very fine and elegant, but concentrated and complex Chardonnay with creamy mouthfeel. Serve with roasted poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5 years. 18.5+/20 Mar 2013 RRP $32.95
