Staete Landt ‘Annabel’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 Screwcap

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Jun-2011
Six parcels of fruit all handled separately, a portion hand-picked, whole bunch pressed, approx.. 20% barrel-fermented in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc and <2 g/L rs, and a portion having lees contact. Sealed with screwcap. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with a pale edge, this has a powerful and intense bouquet full of brash, passionfruit, gooseberry and minerally aromas with real concentration and depth. Very dry on palate, the tightness and tension of the wine results in the initial appearance of austerity. The wine unfolds in the glass to reveal pungent passionfruit and mineral-tinged flavours. The wine has excellent fine acidity and raciness, and the textures very fine. The core of the palate suggests this will develop over the next 4-5+ years. Match with seafood, poultry and Asian cuisine. Fascinating to compare with the cork-sealed wine. 18.0+/20 Jun 2011 RRP $ 23.00
