St John’s Road ‘Motley Bunch’ Barossa Valley GMS 2014

Blended Red from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 05-May-2016
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with garnet hues on the edge. This has an elegant and intense bouquet with ethereal aromas of dark-red berry fruits, lifted red florals, soft raspberry, cedar and spice layers intermixed with penetrating dried herb and nutty elements. Medium-full bodied and finely presented, the palate features good concentration, intensity and drive, with flavours of savoury dark red berry fruits, raspberries, dried herbs, cedar and spices. Nutty oak notes emerge in the glass. This has positive linearity with fine-grained tannin extraction and fine acid balance. The flavours lead to a long, lingering finish of spices, cedar, nuts and dried herbs. This is an elegant GMS with drive and intensity and complex savoury dark red fruits with cedar, spice, nutty and dried herbal detail. Serve with casseroles and semi-hard cheeses over the next 5-6 years. A blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz, the Grenache fermented in seasoned puncheons and the Shiraz and Mataro in 10% new hogsheads to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak. 18.0/20 May 2016 RRP $29.99
