Squawking Magpie ‘The Chatterer’ Hawke’s Bay Rosé 2013

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Nov-2013
100% Merlot from the Gimblett Gravels fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and <3 g/L RS. Moderately deep, light ruby-red colour, paler on edge. The nose is firm, tightly bound and concentrated with aromas of dark cherry and raspberry fruit along with subtle nuances of earth, mineral and game and a suggestion of toast. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the fruit expression is restrained, showing fresh dark raspberries along with mineral and toasty, oak-like elements. The palate has weight and vinous presence and the mouthfeel is slippery and rounded with underlying acidity adding to the linearity and freshness. The flavours fade to a light, soft finish. This is a light-flavoured Merlot rosé with good body and raspberry and toasty flavours. Match with charcuterie and barbecued food over the next 18+ months. 16.0+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $19.95
