Squawking Magpie ‘The Charmer’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Jul-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on rim. This has a full, attractively up-front bouquet with deep aromas of citrus and yellow stonefruits integrated with nuts and butterscotch MLF note. Medium-bodied, yellow stonefruit and nutty fruit flavours form a deep palate with good power, presence and mouthfeel. A little alcohol drive is present. There is an underlying sweetness enhanced by the butterscotch MLF, and the acidity is balanced and integral. Subtle textures guide the butterscotch and nutty flavours to a long, dry finish. This is a balanced Chardonnay with some power carrying the nutty, butterscotch flavours. Serve with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3+ years. Clone 95 fruit from a single vineyard, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine undergoing MLF and given light oak treatment. 16.5+/20 Jul 2013 RRP $26.95
