Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is softly full and aromatic with lifted fermentation esters and harmonious layers of pungent passionfruit that build in intensity. A good core of minerals and dark herbs drives the aromas. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, a deep and well-packed heart of passionfruit is lifted by aromatic esters. The fruit has sweet fruit juiciness, enhanced by slippery, crisp acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced by fine, grainy phenolic textures that provide a dry linearity, carrying the wine to a long, pungent, dry finish. This is a very aromatic, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a core of sweet fruit balanced by fine, dry textures. Serve with salads and vegetables, seafood, and goats cheese over the next 2 years. Fruit from the company’s vineyard in the Wairau Valley, blended with contract Wairau and Awatere fruit, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. 17.5/20 Aug 2014 RRP $19.99
