Bright, light golden-straw colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is full and softly rich with intensely packed aromas of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits interwoven with savoury nutty elements, flinty lees work, cream and butter from MLF. Full-bodied, deep flavours of ripe citrus fruits intermingle with nuts, toasty oak and buttery notes. This has power and depth, and the palate is mouthfilling with creamy barrel-ferment textures, but balanced by alcohol and acid cut providing good freshness and poise. A little phenolic grip is present on the palate line and carries through to a very long, firm citrussy finish. This is a richly ripe, creamy-textured and powerful Chardonnay. Match with roast pork over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from 11 y.o. vines from the ‘Woodlands' vineyard, fully barrel-fermented to 13.75% alc., the wine aged 12 months in approx.. 40% new French oak, with full MLF. 18.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $33.95
