Spy Valley ‘Single Vineyard’ ‘Free Range’ Waihopai Marlborough Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 06-Nov-2013
Fruit from 6 rows in the ‘G Block’ of ‘Johnson Estate’ undergoing no sprays, hand-picked and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 9.0% alc. and 41 g/L RS, with a TA of 9.0 g/L and pH 2.92. 20 cases made. Full straw-yellow colour with light golden hints. This has a full and broad nose with deep, ripe yellow stonefruit and citrus aromas along with honey and funky, nutty, kernel and mineral elements. Medium-dry to medium in taste, intriguing flavours of savoury honey, stonefruit kernels, citrus fruits and nuts feature on the palate, forming a gentle, fine-textured line. The phenolics are well-handled. Mouthwatering, racy acidity enlivens the fruit and provides plenty of tension and energy. The flavours lead to a soft, savoury, nutty and honied finish with good length. This is a soft, funky-flavours, savoury and nutty medium Riesling with good acid energy. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4 years. 17.0+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $21.90
