Spy Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Oct-2015
Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour with slight lemon-green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and densely packed with pungent passionfruit aromas melded with dark herbs, ripe tropical fruits, melons and ripe capsicums. Subtle nutty notes, lime fragrances and mineral nuances add detail to the core. Dry to taste and medium bodied, the fruit flavours of tropical fruits, passionfruit and gooseberries show with rich juiciness and vitality, forming a deep, rounded, concentrated core. Dark herbs and floral elements unfold, providing lift. The palate flows smoothly and with plenty of drive, following a soft-textured positive line, with integrated acidity lending energy and a degree of tension. The wine carries to a fresh, mouthwatering, passionfruity, lingering dry finish. This is a rich, deep and vibrantly fruity, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a dense, smooth-flowing core. Match with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Wairau Valley fruit from ‘Johnson Estate’ and growers, fermented in stainless-steel, with a portion indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 2.3 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $19.95
