Spy Valley Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Nov-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with gentle aromas of yellow stonefruits and complexing apricot kernels and nuts showing lees and oak elements. Subtle layers of yellow florals and hints of honeysuckle emerge in the glass. The fruit remains fresh with a mineral edge. Medium-dry to taste, the fruit flavours are full and gently luscious with flavours of honey entwined with yellow florals and pear fruit. The mouthfeel is rich, and well-balanced by fine phenolic textures and soft acidity adding to the weight and presence. Florals nuts and minerals add complexing detail and the flavours are carried to a fine-textured, long, lingering, off-dry finish. This is a rich, off-dry Pinot Gris with pear, floral and honeysuckle flavours and fine structure. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from ‘Johnson Estate’ and growers, predominantly hand-picked and WBP, fermented in stainless-steel and oak to 14.0% alc. and 6.8 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $21.90
