Spy Valley Marlborough Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Jan-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale edged. The nose is fresh and elegantly proportioned with clear heart of white and yellow stonefruit aromas harmoniously entwined with citrus fruits, gradually revealing a complex array of detail including flinty lees, lemon curd MLF and creamy barrel-ferment with nutty oak notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate features an elegantly concentrated core of bright, lifted citrus fruit interwoven with mealy, nutty layers, and toasty interest. The mouthfeel is creamy-textured and the palate flows smoothly along a fine line, with enlivening, lacy acidity and some alcohol power adding some power. The wine finish dry with nutty oak and lees elements. This is a vibrant, citrussy Chardonnay with subtle, complex detail and oak notes. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit, 6 clones, from ‘Johnson Estate’ and the ‘Outpost’ vineyard, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in oak. 18.5-/20 Jan 2015 RRP $25.00
