Spy Valley ‘Envoy’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Jan-2013
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour, pal on rim. The nose is tightly bound and powerfully concentrated with aromas of nectarines and greengages, along with mouthwatering notes of limes and blackcurrants. The oak is very integral, adding a layer of spice. Dry to taste, intense and penetrating flavours of greengages and stonefruits unfold layers of fresh dark herbs, citrus fruits and minerals. Spices and oak are interwoven, and the palate line is very finely concentrated, with excellent tension and freshness from the acidity. The flavours lead to a very long, fine-textured and dry finish. This is a classical, oak-influenced, concentrated Sauvignon Blanc that will be a match with herb-marinated poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Johnson Estate' ‘E' and ‘A' blocks with the inclusion of ‘River' block old vine Bordeaux clone. Fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in oak on lees. 18.5+/20 Jan 2013 RRP $29.95
