Spy Valley ‘Envoy’ ‘Johnson Vineyard’ Waihopi Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Feb-2017
Full, even straw-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. This has a full and harmonious bouquet with sweetly ripe aromas of tropical fruits, nectarines and greengages, lifted by vanilla and spicy oak notes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features rich, succulent and lively flavours of sweetly ripe greengage and nectarine fruit, along with tropical fruits, herbs and subtle, lifted oak elements. The mouthfeel is bright, lively and vibrant with enlivening acidity carrying the flavours along a very fine-textured line with suggestions of creaminess. This has energy, tension and vitality, leading to a sustained finish of green stonefruits and herbs. This is a succulent and lively, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with flavours of green stonefruits, herbs ans oak nuances on a fine-textured palate. Match with herb-marinated poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked Bordeaux-based clone fruit from the ‘Johnson Estate River Block’ fully fermented in wood, one-third large format to 13.5% alc. and 2.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 11 months on lees with no batonnage in 38% new wood, then given a further 6 months in tank, most of the wine going through MLF. 18.5+/20 Feb 2017 RRP $32.00
