Hand-picked Bordeaux clone fruit from the ‘Johnson Estate River Block’ fermented in barrel to 14.0% alc. and 3.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 11 months in oak on lees. Bright, light straw-yellow colour, lighter on edge. This has an elegant nose with good intensity of nectarine, greengage and green stonefruit aromas expressed with a fresh steeliness and cut, unfolding layers of complexing white stonefruits, nuts, minerals and smoky elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion with a well-concentrated core of nectarines and green stonefruits. Complexing layers of spices, herbs and savoury nutty notes emerge to add interest. This has a very fine-textured line with balanced acidity lending liveliness and tension to the mouthfeel. The wine carries to a very long and sustained, textured and concentrated finish with spices, herbs and smoke. This is an elegantly concentrated, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with green stonefruit and complexing spice and nutty detail and a lively mouthfeel.
