Spring Creek Estate Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Mar-2017
Bright straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The bouquet is elegantly concentrated with aromas of savoury tropical fruit entwined with rose-petal florals entwined with layers of root-ginger and musk. The aromatics are softly presented and are beginning to show secondary hair-oil development. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a core of savoury and spicy fruit flavours of rose-petal florals, Turkish Delight, root ginger and musk. The palate is rounded with soft-textures, and low acidity lending a sense of unctuousness with weight. Some alcohol power carries the wine to a rounded, lingering finish of savoury and spicy flavours. This is a flavoursome, dryish Gewurztraminer with some secondary development showing savoury and spicy flavours on a rounded palate with some alcohol power. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3 years. Wairau Valley fruit tank-fermented to 14.5% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Mar 2017 RRP $19.99
