Spinyback Nelson Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 01-Nov-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with good depth of ripe, savoury citrus fruits in a complex amalgam with nutty notes, a little oxidative interest, oak toast and lemon-curd like MLF layers. Medium-full bodied, the palate is finely concentrated with flavours of white stonefruits and citrus fruits, along with nutty oak and oxidative suggestions. Creamy, lemon-curd barrel-ferment and MLF flavours grow in prominence to form a positive core. The wine follows a fine, textural line with balanced acidity lending freshness and drive. The rich flavours lead to a deep and long lingering finish of citrus and lemon-curd notes. This is an elegant, creamy, concentrated Chardonnay with stonefruit and nutty fruit, along with integrated MLF notes. Serve with seafood and creamy sauced poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. Clones 15, 2/23 and 95, tank fermented with some solids to 14.0% alc., the wine aged one year in French oak undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 17.5-/20 Nov 2015 RRP $17.00
