Spinyback Nelson Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Oct-2014
Full straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is a little shy, but shows a firm and concentrated core of white stonefruits and nuts, and subtle oxidation nuances with flinty minerals and lemon curd and butterscotch MLF entwined with oak toast. Medium-bodied with good depth and presence, the flavours of citrus and stonefruits are melded with nuts and butterscotch and lemon curd, with oak interest. The mouthfeel is smooth and soft-texture, but enlivened by a line of bright, lacy and fresh acidity. Some oxidative and nutty complexities emerge and are carried to a lively, fresh, lingering finish. This is a full-flavoured, lively Chardonnay with concentrated citrus fruit and butterscotch notes. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Clone 2/23 fruit fermented with some solids in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc., the wine aged in French oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 17.5/20 Oct 2014 RRP $18.00
