Spencer Block Malbec 2020, Mendoza, Argentina

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 26-May-2022
Deep, full ruby-red with a purple sheen, lighter on the rim. The nose is gentle and coy, slowly releasing aromas of red berries and plums melded with toasty oak and spice. Medium-bodied, dark and broody aromas of blackberries and plums uplifted by clove and nutmeg, unfolding coconut and dark cocoa. Light grip of tannin extractions contributes to a grainy textural mouthfeel, and spice lingers to a sustained finish. This Malbec possesses a broad and grainy palate with plush fruit, coconut, and spice details. Match with grilled meat and roast over the next 3 years. Fruit sourced from Finca Los Arboles, Uco Valley, fermented to 14.5% alc, aged 8 months in a mixture of American and French oak barrels and staves. 17.5/20 pts (88 pts) May 2022 RRP $24
