Spade Oak Voysey Syrah 2019, Gisborne

Syrah from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 01-Sep-2020
Bright, even, ruby-red with some depth. The nose is elegantly presented, gently penetrating aromas of red berries, raspberries, melded with white florals, pepper and a meaty underlay. Medium-bodied, the palate soft and juicy with aromas of red plums, raspberry, along with white florals, unfolding pepper and spice from the barrel. The palate grows more voluminous as it aerated, showing some mealy meat notes and nutty oak details. The fruit is juicy and lush with good concentration and balanced acidity, lacy and integrated, flows to an elegant lengthy finish. The fruit is supported by fine and dusty tannin, sails on a smooth texture line with grace to a fragrant finish. This is a supple Syrah with aromas of red plums and raspberries, delicately presented with Viognier florals and a dusty tannin texture line. Co-fermented with 8% Viognier to 12.5% alc. 100% barrel-aged for 11 months, 35% new. 18/20 pts Aug 2020 RRP $20
