Spade Oak ‘Voysey’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2017

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 07-Nov-2018
Even ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on edge. The nose is elegantly proportioned with fragrant aromas of dark raspberry fruit with hints of blackberries, black and white pepper, along with a little floral and spice detail. Medium-bodied, the palate has a softly packed core with flavours of dark raspberries and hints of black fruits, intermixed with black and white pepper, unfolding floral and apricot lift and spices. The fruit is underlined by some alcoholic power, with light, supple tannin extraction providing texture and mouthfeel. The acidity is soft and integrated. As the wine flows, ethereal aromatic flavours emerge and carry to a light, but lingering finish. This is a softly packed Syrah with raspberry, pepper and spice flavours on a soft-textured palate unfolding ethereal fragrances. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 2-3 years. Hawke’s Bay Syrah wine, 52% Bridge Pa and 48% Ohiti, blended with 12% Gisborne Viognier for the finished wine, the wine at 13.0% alc., and all aged 8 months in barrel with 15% new oak equivalence. 16.5+/20 Nov 2018 RRP $19.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
