Spade Oak Vigneron Chardonnay 2017, Gisborne

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborne
Review Date : 28-Jul-2021
Bright, medium yellow, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is soft with integrated aromas of pear, dried apple, banana blossom and citrus, melded with toast, peanut butter reminiscents. Medium-full bodied, citrus, dried apple, banana blossoms are savoury, claimed by growingly nutty, toasty and caramel nuances. The palate is creamed with buttery MLF elements, along with a chalky phenolic line. Acidity is lively, providing vigour and freshness; savoury nuttiness lingers to a sustained dry finish. This is a dry, textural Chardonnay with flavours of citrus, banana blossom and a savoury and nutty finish. Match with maple roasted pumpkin with dukkah and hazelnut-crusted chicken over the next 3 years. 13.5% alc. 18/20 pts (90 pts) July 2021 RRP $30
