Spade Oak The Co-Ordinates Patutahi/ Ormond Chardonnay 2019, Gisborne

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborne
Review Date : 28-Jul-2021
Bright, pale yellow with depth, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and energetic, with aromas of green melon, citrus interweave mineral and elegantly toasty oak details. Medium-full bodied, aromas of green melon, lemon melded with creamy lees, roasted almond in well-proportion, subtle fine spices tingle on the finish. The acidity is lively and seamless, carry chalky minerals on a creamy flow. Nutty oak detail is well balanced and poised, added depth to the palate. This is an elegantly balanced Chardonnay with flavours of melon and citrus with minerals and oak details. Match with crispy-skinned flatfish and apricot marinated chicken over the next 5 years. Clone 95 (75%), Clone 15 (25%) fermented in oak with selected yeast, full MLF, aged in 2,500L oak barrels on fire toasted French oak staves, 35% new oak. 13% alc. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) July 2021 RRP $28
