Sorrell The Wrekin Pinot Noir 2022, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Dec-2023
Light ruby-red with some depth, even colour throughout. This has a lifted, ethereal bouquet with aromas of red cherry, ripe strawberry, rosehip and a hint of herb. Medium-bodied, red and black cherry aromas, ripe strawberry entwined with rosehip, thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg and a savoury undertone. Supple, velvety tannins reflect sweet spices on a creamy mouthfeel. Integrated acidity lingers with herbs and spices, lending a poised, elegant finish. Match with duck and pork scotch steak over the next 10+ years. Clones 667, 777, 115,114, Abel. Handpicked, destemmed, fermented in open-top fermenters, inoculated with yeast from The Wrekin vineyard, 18 days on skins, aged 14 months in French oak, underwent spring MLF. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Dec 2023 $49
