Soljans Estate Fifth Generation Series Chardonnay 2017, Auckland

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 14-Sep-2020
Bright, deep golden-yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is elegant-full, aromas of cantaloupe melon, stonefruit interweaves creamy MLF and toasty oak details. Medium-full bodied, ripe tropical fruit of canteloupe melon, stonefruit forms a rounded core, enriched by aromas of butterscotch, almonds finished on a lifted caramel tone. The palate is creamy with MLF details, underlined a soft acid drive. Fine-textured mouthfeel with a light grip provides weight and body. This is an elegant Chardonnay with ripe fruit flavours, toasty oak, butterscotch details on a creamy palate. Match with Kung Pao chicken and creamy pasta over the next 5 years. Fruit from their vineyard in Kumeu, whole bunch pressed, fermented to 13.5% alc, aged in French oak barriques for 18 months. 18.5-/20 pts Sept 2020 RRP $48
