SOHO ‘White Collection’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Sep-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. This has a full, broad and up-front nose of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits infused with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment aromas, buttery MLF and toasty oak in a harmonious, bold amalgam. Full-bodied with full and rich flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, layers of nutty oak and buttery, creamy barrel-ferment and MLF flavours open out to fill the mouth. The fruit is underlined by fine, grainy phenolic textures and driven by alcoholic warmth and generosity. A line of acidity lends freshness and cut to the power, and the wine carries through to a strong, bold, lingering finish with citrus, toast and nutty flavours. This is a fulsome and robust, traditionally styled Chardonnay with creamy, toasty and buttery flavours. Serve with roast pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the Wairau Valley fully barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 18% new French oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 17.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $26.00
