SOHO ‘Westwood’ Waiheke Island’ Rosé 2015

Rose from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 11-Sep-2015
A blend of 82% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% each Syrah and Petit Verdot, hand-picked, from the company’s ‘Jomara’ vineyard, Onetangi, fermented to 12.6% alc. and 14 g/L RS. Bright, light, purple-hued pink colour with some depth, and light purple on rim. The nose is bright and fresh with moderately concentrated, deep aromas of ripe raspberries and cream and red cherry fruit, along with subtle red floral and minerally lift. Medium in sweetness and light-medium bodied, this has up-front and mouthfilling flavours of juicy raspberry fruit along with dark cherries, and raspberries and cream nuances. The fruit has depth and presence forming a concentrated and rounded core with a light, fine-textured guiding line. Ripe, refreshing acidity enlivens the mouthfeel and enhances the aromatic lift, leading the wine to a zesty, thirst-quenching finish. This is an up-front, medium-sweet, gently refreshing rosé with softly concentrated and deep flavours of raspberries and cream. Serve as an aperitif, with tapas and dim sum, and with Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. 17.5+/20 Sep 2015 RRP $26.00
