SOHO ‘Westwood’ Waiheke Island Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 30-Jun-2014
92% Merlot. 7% Malbec and 1% Syrah from SOHO’s Onetangi vineyard, fermented to 13.2% alc. and 8 g/L RS. Moderately deep, purple-hued ruby-pink colour. This has an up-front, brash nose with mouthwatering aromas of raspberries and cream, along with a steely, minerally freshness and hint of raspberry confectionary. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, full, bright and juicy, thirst-quenching flavours of raspberries and cream show with succulence and sweetness. Grainy, dry tannins form a textured core, balancing the richness, and providing plenty of mouthfeel and grip. The acidity is unobtrusive, and lends good energy to the palate as it flows to a drying, but flavoursome, fruity finish. This is a bright, brash, off-dry rosé with raspberry fruit flavours and a grainy texture. Serve with antipasto, charcuterie and tapas over the next 18 months to 2 years. 17.0/20 Jul 2014 RRP $26.00
