SOHO ‘Westwood’ Waiheke Island Rosé 2012

Rose from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 09-Oct-2012
Hand-picked fruit, 89% Merlot and 11% Malbec from SOHO'S Onetangi vineyard on Waiheke Island, fermented to 12.9% alc. and 5 g/L rs. Moderately deep, purple-hued cerise-pink colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is bright and fruity with lifted aromas of red florals, red currants and subtle raspberry confectionary hints, along with savoury, minerally detail. Dry to taste, this had deep and intense flavours of redcurrants and raspberries. The fruit has a stylish restraint and the palate shows some depth, weight and a degree of gravitas, with a very fine textural line. Fresh, crisp acidity discreetly underlines the mouthfeel and leads to a dry finish with some length. This is a classical rosé with stylishly expressed fruitiness and fine elegant textures. Match with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 2+ years. 17.5+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $25.99
