Soho Valentina Syrah 2019, Waiheke Island

Syrah from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 25-Sep-2020
Bright, moderate ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter in purple on the rim. The bouquet is softly full, elegantly penetrating nuances of red plums, red berries, entwined with smoked meat, tobacco and a herbaceous underlay. Medium-full bodied, bright nuances of red plums and berries are supported by lacy acidity. Integrated aromas of smoked meat, tobacco contributes to the breadth of the palate, subtle herbaceous notes of peppermint and black pepper linger on the finish. Mouthwatering acidity lifted the palate and injected vitality, flows with fine-grain, powdery tannin. This is a harmonious Syrah with elegant weight, red fruit and smoked meat, tobacco complexities on a fresh and fine-textured palate. Match with lamb loin and roasted pork over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Carter’s Jomara Vineyard, Onetangi. Fermented to 13%, 15% new oak. Vegan friendly. 18.5/20 pts Sept 2020 RRP $45
