Soho McQueen Pinot Noir 2018, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 05-May-2021
Moderate deep ruby-red with good transparency, faintly lighter edged. The nose is full and welcoming, greeted with well-packed aromas of blackberries and plums, dried herbal fragrance and a hint of earth. Medium-full bodied, flavours of blackberries and plums underlined freshness, dried thyme melded with cinnamon and cloves, a touch of earth linger on the finish. The black flavoured fruit echos dried herbs and spices, lively acidity freshen up the palate. Ample fine-grained tannin is velvety with a good grip, provides texture and vitality. Match with venison tataki and lamb rack over the next 5+ years. Fruit sourced from Gibbston, Bannockburn and Bendigo, fermented with 25% whole clusters to 13.5% alc, aged in French oak barrels, 25% new oak. Vegan friendly. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) May 2021 RRP $50
