SOHO ‘Maren’ Marlborough Riesling 2016

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Feb-2017
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on the rim. The nose is very fresh and tight with refined and pure, penetrating aromas of limes and lemons along with white florals, and chalky, thirst-quenching minerals. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is taut in concentration with good intensity of pure lime and lemon fruit flavours, entwined with white florals and mineral notes. The palate has refined and deep fruit extract textures and underlying mouthwatering acidity, and flows with positive linearity, leading to a long, dry, nuanced finish showing citrus fruits and minerals. This is a youthfully taut, off-dry Riesling showing pure lime and lemon fruit with florals and minerals, and a mouthwatering, fine-textured palate. This will develop well over the next 5+ years. Serve as an aperitif, and with shellfish. Fruit from mature vines from a Southern Valleys site, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 18 g/L RS, TA 10.9 g/L and pH 2.7, the wine aged on lees. 18.5/20 Feb 2017 RRP $25.00
