SOHO ‘Maren’ Marlborough Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Aug-2013
Old vine Riesling fruit from SOHO’s Southern Valley site, hand-picked and cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 13.5 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for 3 months. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with light green hues, pale on rim. This has a full, aromatic and exotic bouquet of jasmine florals, lime fruit, herbs and honeysuckle, lifted by fresh yeast and fermentation esters. Off-dry to taste and light-bodied, the palate is well-concentrated with a tightly bound core of exotic florals and citrus fruits. Youthful esters lift adds a layer of interest. The mouthfeel is crisp and racy with soft, mouthwatering acidity allied to a fine-textural line, and the flavours lead to a dry, textured, moderately long finish. This is an exotic and aromatic, mouthwatering, off-dry Riesling. Serve as an aperitif or with Asian fare over the next 4+ years. 17.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $27.00
