Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 27-Feb-2023
Bright, even, light ruby-red. The bubbles are fine and subtly persistent. The nose is gently full, with aromas of red and blackberries melded with spice, floral and creaminess. Medium-full bodied, aromas of red and blackberries intertwined with a hint of violet, spice and creamy autolysis. The wine is rich with a concentrated palate, dry to taste, with a slightly savoury, meaty nuance. The creamy palate carries fine-textured phenolics and a light textural grip to a lengthy finish. This youthful, rich Brut Rosé shows a dry, alluring palate with berries, spice and creamy complexity. Match with tuna tartare and beef carpaccio over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Carter's JOMARA vineyard, Onetangi, handpicked Merlot, immediately pressed, settled juice was barrel fermented, then transferred to stainless tanks on full lees for 9 months. Tirage in Jan 2022, followed by a second fermentation in bottles, aged 11 months sur lie, zero dosage. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Feb 2023 RRP $50
