SOHO ‘Jonny’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Feb-2017
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, pale edged. The nose is softly full and up-front with accessible aromas of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits harmoniously interwoven with creamy and nutty oak, and layers of butterscotch MLF. Medium-bodied, the palate has mouthfilling flavours of ripe citrus fruits melded with nutty and toasty oak, along with plenty of butterscotch notes. The mouthfeel balances richness and presence with fresh acidity, and the wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish of toast and butterscotch. This is an up-front, accessible Chardonnay with rich citrus fruit, toasty oak and butterscotch flavours and balancing freshness. Match with creamy sauced white meat and seafood dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Wairau Valley, 60% barrel-fermented and 40% tank fermented with oak contact to 13.0% alc., the oak component aged 9-10 months on lees in 20% new barrels, 90% of the wine undergoing MLF. 17.5-/20 Feb 2017 RRP On-premise only
