SOHO ‘Jagger’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Aug-2014
Hand-picked fruit from the Awatere Valley, Southern Valleys and Lower Wairau Valley, fermented with 5% in seasoned French oak to 13.0% alc. and 6.5 g/L RS. Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush. This has a light, ethereal nose with gentle, pure aromas of white stonefruits, exotic florals and honeysuckle lifted by fermentation esters. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, delicate but plush and juicy flavours of florals, stonefruits, honey and spices form a soft, unctuous core. The fruit is underlined by a fine textural thread and has some underlying drive and power that provides a positive, harmonious mouthfeel. As the wine flows, aromatic detail unfolds and the acidity emerges to carry the fruit to a soft, dry and lightly nuanced finish with good length. This is a light, harmonious off-dry Pinot Gris with subtle fruit flavours richness. Match with mildly spicy white meat dishes over the next 3 years. 17.5-/20 Aug 2014 RRP $26.00
