SOHO ‘Jagger’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Oct-2012
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues. This has a fresh, voluminous nose with restrained, but pure aromas of ripe stonefruits, pears and honeysuckle that grows in depth, revealing nuances of flinty lees work. Dry and weighty, the fruit flavours of savoury yellow stonefruits and honied pears form a concentrated and softly dense core. Discreet acidity enables the fruit richness to feature, and the wine is a gently mouthfilling one. The fruit flavours are intermixed with subtle nutty, mineral elements and carry though to a long and rich, softly honied finish. This is a softly fulsome Pinot Gris with some detailed complexities. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-5 years. Hand-picked Pinot Gris from the central Wairau Valley, fermented with 10% in old French oak barrels to 13.7% alc. and 4 g/L rs. 18.0+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $26.99
