SOHO ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jun-2016
Dark ruby-red colour with light garnet hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full and softly voluminous with deep and well-packed aromas of ripe black cherry and dark red berry fruit, unfolding notes of ripe plums and nuances of liquorice. The aromatics are harmoniously entwined revealing a core of violet florals and spices. Medium-full bodied, rich and plush flavours of ripe dark plums and dark-red berry fruits fill the mouth, unfolding layers of savoury dark herbs, nutty oak, liquorice and spices. The mouthfeel is very smooth wit fine-grained tannin extraction providing refined structure and texture. Integrated acidity adds to the seamlessness. The fruit richness and succulence carries to a long, sustained finish with spice and liquorice nuances. This is a rich and plush, dark plum-fruited Pinot Noir with a refined and smooth structure and nuances of spice and liquorice. Match with wild duck and pork, and with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5 years. Hand-picked fruit from the company’s ‘Yarrum’ vineyard in the Southern Valleys, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak casks. 18.5+/20 Jun 2016 RRP $38.00
