SOHO ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Jun-2015
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with some black-red hues. The nose is firm and fine in concentration with aromas of ripe dark red and black berried fruits, along with plums, liquorice and earth entwined with spicy and subtly cedary oak. Dark red floral elements and fruit-cake unfold with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is tightly bound with a concentrated core of dark red and black berried fruit, melded with plum, herb, spices and nutty oak detail. The fruit is underlined by a firm line of fine-grained tannins providing positive structure and drive. The acidity is discreet and balanced and the palate leads to long and sustained finish with plum and spicy nuances. This is a tightly concentrated, fine-textured Pinot Noir with black fruit and spicy flavours. Match with lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 5-6 years. Hand-picked certified organic fruit from SOHO’s ‘Yarrum’ Southern Valleys vineyard, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 month in 25% new French oak. 18.0/20 Jun 2015 RRP $37.00
