SOHO ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 30-Jun-2014
Very dark, black-hearted ruby-red colour with lighter purple hues on rim. The nose is softly full with deep and densely packed aromas of ripe, blackberry and black plum fruits, along with restrained dark herb and minerally undertones. Medium-full bodied, softly rich and concentrated flavours of ripe, dark berry fruits are entwined with herbs and minerals providing complexing detail. The mouthfeel is fulsome and rounded, with supple tannins and fresh acidity providing good structure and energy. A little toast oak emerges and combines with spice notes and sweet fruit leading to a long, fleshy, and brisk, lingering finish. This is a fulsome, fleshy and well-packed Pinot Noir with ripe black fruit and supple tannins. Match with casseroles and roasted red meat dishes over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit from SOHO’s ‘Yarrum’ vineyard, in the Southern Valleys, fermented with 10% whole clusters to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak barrels. 18.5-/20 Jul 2014 RRP $38.00
